The U.S. Pacific Fleet war game conducted a close examination of issues derived from previous war games exploring what decisions U.S. forces might make to better integrate multiple forces in a complex combat scenario August 27-30. The senior player was Rear Adm. Jim Waters, the director of the U.S. Pacific Fleet Maritime Headquarters. More than 50 players congregated at the Naval War College to war game force integration challenges and deepen their understanding of a fast-paced and complex operating environment. Professor Leif Bergey and his team conducted a highly classified war game in Newport, utilizing the same spaces as Professor Marrin’s team earlier in August.
These war games are part of the Senior Executive Group-directed program to utilize war games in addressing the most critical issues facing the U.S. Navy. This series of war games provides a strategic framework for using war games to assist the U.S. Navy and the broader DOD enterprise in studying, assessing and gaming different force configurations under various scenarios.
