U.S. Naval War College (NWC) President Rear Adm. Pete Garvin met with Adm. Joachim Rühle, German Navy, Chief of Staff – Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), during a visit to the college’s Newport, RI campus, May 13.
The two talked about the college's International Programs department and its direct support of enduring relationships, cooperation and exchange of ideas with U.S. maritime partners and Allies.
Rühle, a 2001 graduate of NWC, also received a brief from staff and faculty members, before delivering a lecture to international students enrolled in the Naval Command College and Naval Staff College.
