NEWPORT, R.I. – The Honorable Rick Larsen, U.S. Representative for Washington State’s 2nd Congressional District, visits the U.S. Naval War College (NWC) March 4, 2024 on board Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island. During the visit Rep. Larsen met with NWC President Rear Adm. Pete Garvin before receiving briefs from NWC faculty and staff on some of the focus areas NWC students are studying.

U.S. Naval War College (NWC) President Rear Adm. Pete Garvin and NWC Provost Dr. Stephen Mariano met with Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02) during a Congressional Member Delegation (CODEL) visit to the college’s Newport, RI campus, March 4.

The three discussed the importance of professional military education in enhancing the nation’s joint warfighting capabilities through future generations of critically-thinking, strategically minded leaders.

In addition to his meeting with NWC’s president and provost, Rep. Larsen was also briefed on the college’s research, analysis and wargaming efforts by faculty from NWC’s Stockton Center for International Law, Strategic and Operational Research Department and Wargaming Department.
