NEWPORT, R.I. -- U.S. Naval War College debuted a new video series, “NWC Talks,” recorded at the college’s historic campus.

The intent is to spotlight and share the expertise of the faculty, whose scholarship covers the globe in breadth and reach – from the Chinese Maritime Studies Group to the Cyber and Innovation Policy Institute to the Ethics and Emerging Military Technology program.

These videos will feature a 10- to 20-minute talk by a member of the faculty.

“Your U.S. Naval War College is a global command, with our faculty and staff having an impact on U.S. operations around the world,” said Rear Adm. Jeffrey Harley, Naval War College president.

“It’s fitting then that we should harness the power of social media to share these scholars and their work with the larger public.”

The first speaker is Derek Reveron, chair of the National Security Affairs Department, who shares his analysis of U.S. military partnerships and the role they play on the world stage. Reveron holds holds a public policy Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago and is also a captain in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He has served on the U.S. Naval War College faculty since 2004.

“It’s a privilege to launch this series to bring leading experts to a broader audience,” Reveron said.

“We are the Navy’s home of thought. Through this series, the college’s leading thinkers can share their insights on maritime strategy, regional security and many aspects of foreign policy and defense.”

The videos will be available on the college’s YouTube channel, youtube.com/user/usnavalwarcollege/. All of institution’s social media products can be found at usnwc.edu/publications/Social-Media.
