Social Media and Military Leaders

Tammy Smith is a co-author of “Why We Tweet: General Officer Use of Social Media to Engage, Influence, and Lead” (Strategy Bridge, September 7, 2020). Her presentation is intended to educate military senior leaders about the potential benefits and risks to actively engaging on social media. She will share her personal experiences, highlight successful practitioners, provide strategies for dealing with “trolls” and review select high profile missteps made by senior leaders. Participants are encouraged to participate in the discussion, which will focus in part on personal social media strategy and the leadership challenges that emerge within current military social media policy guidelines.
