Are the United States and the People's Republic of China at the start of a new Cold War or something different? Prize-winning historian and noted Sinologist Professor Odd Arne Westad of Yale University will discuss whether the framework George Kennan and other U.S. strategists developed for containing the expansion of the Soviet Union is appropriate for China. He will also illuminate the historical and material foundations of China's contemporary foreign policy.
