U.S. Naval War College President Rear Adm. Darryl Walker met with Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Operations, Plans, Strategy, and Warfighting Development Vice Adm. Daniel Dwyer during a visit to the college’s Newport, RI campus, Jan. 15.
The leaders discussed how the U.S. Naval War College’s analytical and educational wargaming efforts support the CNO’s Navigation Plan and Project 33. These initiatives enhance warfighter readiness by providing fleet staffs with actionable insights and trained personnel for effective operations from maritime operations centers.
In addition to his meeting with Walker, Dwyer reviewed briefings and demonstrations of the college’s current wargaming capabilities and future development plans. The briefs highlighted how the U.S. Naval War College leads the Navy's wargaming efforts, integrating research across the naval wargaming enterprise and promoting the dissemination of findings within the naval analytic community.
Dwyer also discussed resources needed for these efforts to continue enhancing the Navy and Joint Force’s long-term advantage and readiness to respond in competition, crisis, and conflict.
