About U.S. Naval War College

Brenda is an Associate Professor in the College of Leadership and Ethics at the U.S. Naval War College. A “pracademic,” she has extensive experience as a practitioner and academic working on conflict, peace, security, stability operations, informal justice, and gender equality. A senior advisor and subject matter expert, she has 30+ years of experience -- including more than seven years in conflict-affected countries -- working with the Department of Defense, U.S. Agency for International Development, the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and assorted NGOs. She has worked in Africa, Central Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Retired Navy Captain and professor Glen Leverette joined the U.S. Naval War College faculty in October 2021. Originally from Daytona Beach, he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science. Professor Leverette was also a President's Honor Graduate of the U.S. Naval War College in 2010. Professor Leverette is currently a faculty member for the Maritime Staff Operator's Course in the College of Maritime Operational Warfare. His specialties include joint and naval planning, combat logistics, operational functions, humanitarian assistance and non-combatant evacuation operations.
