U.S. Naval War College (NWC) President Rear Adm. Darryl Walker and Provost Dr. Stephen Mariano met with Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Administrator Dr. Richard Spinrad during a visit to the college’s Newport, RI campus, Oct. 17.
The leaders discussed opportunities for collaborative efforts between NWC and NOAA on education and faculty research, especially in the fields of international oceans, fisheries, climate, space and weather.
In addition to his meeting with NWC leadership, Spinrad was also briefed by faculty from the college’s Maritime Security and Governance Staff course, Civilian-Military Humanitarian Response program, National Security Affairs department and Joint Military Operations department.
