Biography

Japan Maritime Self Defense Force Cmdr. Ishii is a legal adviser and surface warfare officer. For shore tours, he has served in the operational law office of the JMSDF Command and Staff College (U.S. Naval War College equivalent) and in the plans and program division of the JMSDF Maritime Staff Office. At sea, he has served on board JS Hatakaze (DDG 171), JS Kashima (TV 3508), JS Isoyuki (DD 127), JS Setoyuki (DD 131), JS Yuugumo (DDK 121), JS Chokai (DDG 176) and JS Asakaze (DDG 169). He was commissioned in March 1999.
